2011 national festival on the cultural heritage “Ca Tru” (Vietnam classic opera) is taking place in Hanoi from October 13th to 16th .
The event will welcome the participation of the regions where cultural heritage “Ca Tru” originates from and develops steadily through time such as Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Ho Chi Minh City.
“Ca Tru” is one type of traditional music of Vietnam. Emerged in the early sixteenth century, as a unique genre of arts, which is the fine coordination of the lyrics, great vocal and musical instruments like beats, strings, drums, etc., “Ca Tru” has proved its important role in the world of folklore music locally and internationally.
From1st October 2009, “Ca Tru” has become the fourth cultural heritage of Vietnam recognized by the UNESCO. “Ca Tru” is listed as an intangible cultural heritage in needs of emergency protection and reservation.
