Bi, Dung so! (Bi, Don’t Be Afraid) a Vietnamese film awarded in Cannes 2010 is on screen at Hanoi Cinematheque, on March 29th, 2012. The movie screening offers all movie watchers a bonus Q&A with the director Phan Dang Di also.
The psychological film depicts life of a dysfunctional family, which is seen through the eyes of the six-year-old boy named Bi. Set in the bustle of Hanoi, and uncomfortable family relationships, the film is a thoughtful cinematic exploration of secrets and desires which have been harbored by each family member. It also confirms that “sex and youthful exuberance spring eternal” (Screen Daily).
“Bi, Dung so” is the most famous of young film maker Phan Dang Di so far. The movie won the SACD Prize in the International Critics week of Cannes Film Festival 2010.
The film is screened in English with Vietnamese subtitles.
