Hai Phong Transportation Options
100km from Hanoi, getting to Hai Phong is easier than ever with an important transportation network of sea routes, railways and airlines. Visitors are truly spoiled with an abundance of transport options and can enjoy the journey in various ways.
By plane
Traveling by plane is a convenient and comfortable option with three main airlines (Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jestar) mostly operating direct domestic flights from major cities to Cat Bi International Airport.
Cat Bi International airport is located south of the city and there are a bundle of taxis as well as public transport available to get into the city center.

By road
There are frequent buses from Gia Lam Station at the outskirts of Hanoi to either Niem Nghia (3km from the city center) or Cau Rao Station (6km from the city center) in Hai Phong. This is a very economical choice for tourists costing only around 80000 VND.
Take a taxi or private car on highway CT04 that links Hanoi and Hai Phong is another wise option costing about $80 USD one way. It takes about 1.5 hours to arrive.

By train
For a more authentic experience to see some of the majestic Vietnamese countryside, train routes operate from both the north and south of the country. From Hanoi, visitors can board from Long Bien train station or Hanoi train station with prices from 60000 VND to 120000 VND. However, this option is quite time-consuming.

By ferry
Hai Phong is served by a number of ferries including several daily fast hydrofoils and speedboats to and from Cat Ba Island. All you need to do is go to Ben Binh Pier to buy ticket. One-way boat/ ferry ticket from Hai Phong to Cat Ba costs around $7-8.

Hai Phong Airport - officially known as Cat Bi International Airport - is situated in Thuan An District, about 8km from the city center to the southeast.
