Vung Tau to host Southeast Kite Festival

The Southeast Kite Festival 2012 is opening in the coastal province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on March 30th, lasting for three days along with the 4th Vung Tau International Kite Festival.

The Southeast Kite Festival 2012 is opening in the coastal province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on March 30th, lasting for three days along with the 4th Vung Tau International Kite Festival.

The festival features a competition of flute-kite among Vietnamese kite groups. With the participation of 80 professional kite artists of seven teams coming from Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Dong Thap and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the event promises spectacular performances.

Being held in the occasion of Hung King Anniversary (10th day of the third lunar month) which commemorates the first kingdom of Vietnam, this kite performances is planned to boast Vietnam’s tradition, and appreciate Hung Dynasty.

With the advantage of good natural condition and for year kite festival holding in hand, Vung Tau is hoped to host the upcoming Southeast Kite Festival successfully. The musical flute kite which used to be popular in Vietnam is considered the highlight, and is highly expected by Western tourists.
