Ma May street

Mã Mây is located in the Old Quarter and connects between Hàng Bạc and Hàng Buồm streets. In the old days, the southern half of the street specialized in making paper-based products for worshipping purpose while the northern end leans more toward hemp-based handicrafts. Nowadays, the production has moved to other streets or to the outskirt of Hanoi, leaving Mã Mây with a myriad of hotels and hostels, travel cafes and restaurants to cater to the demand of tourists.

Notably, there is still a temple at 64 Mã Mây that has stood there for hundreds of years. Another remarkable place is Ma May Old House at number 87, which was revived to protect the Old Quarter’s heritage.
