19 new sites recognized as world heritages by UNESCO
Recently during the 37th Conference of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in SiemReap Cambodia, 19 new sites to the list of world heritages.
Recently during the 37th Conference of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in SiemReap Cambodia, 19 new sites to the list of world heritages.
Specifically, this list includes 5 natural and 14 cultural heritages, which were short-listed from 30 heritages in the nomination list, presented by the chair of the conference, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Sok An.
The Asia-Pacific region is proud to have the largest number of the chosen new world heritages with 8 sites, followed by Europe with 7 sites, and Africa with two and finally Latin America and Middle East with one each.
Heritages that bring honor to Asia are Historic Monuments and Sites in Keasong, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan’s Mount Fuji, and Xinjiang Tianshan and Cultural Landscape of Honghe Hani Rice Terraces of China, and Hill Forts of Rajasthan in India.
