Investors of more than 100 tourism projects in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province have promised to continue their funding to those projects after 2 years ceasing due to economic recession and policy changes, said Nguyen Van Son, deputy director of the Ba Ria Vung Tau Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
These projects will be re-launched in 2013, and got finished in the period of time from 2014 to 2016. Various plans with huge budget such as Saigon Atlantis Hotel with about US$4.1 billion investment and Safari project of investors from Denmark with similar budget are expected to rock the province’s tourism.
Tourism industry in Ba Ria Vung Tau have recently suffered from economic crisis in both attracting travelers and improving tourism infrastructure. Figures from local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism indicates that there are currently 154 tourism projects in this province with total value of more than VND 40 trillion (US$12 billion), but only 30% of them are still in progress. However, tourism statistic in the first 8 months of 2012 shows positive signal with 12.9% higher than same period last year.
