Unit Asia, a young Japan-based jazz band is going to give their first performance in Vietnam in the early February. The band will participate in a jazz concert dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, which takes place at Youth Theater, Hanoi on February 3rd, 2012, and Ben Thanh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City on February 5th, 2012.
Being co-organized by the Consulate General of Japan in HCMC and the Japan Foudation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, the concert is expected to reflect Japan’s resilient spirit in rebuilding affected towns due to the disaster, and express their gratitude to Vietnamese government and people for timely support.
Unit Asia in a Jazz show
The two-hour concert should be a can-not-miss-out event to any Jazz lovers because of impressive performances by five excellent members including Japanese musicians Isao Miyoshi (guitar), Hiroyuki Noritake (drums), Shigeki Ippon (bass), Malaysian pianist Tay Cher Siang, and the prestigious Thai saxophone player Koh Saxman. The show also features unique perforamces of the local talented jazz artist Tung Duong.
Formed in 2008, Unit Asia released their first album in 2010, and has performed in many Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The up coming jazz concert in major cities of Vietnam is part of the band’s Southeast Asian Tour 2012.
