Groundbreaking ceremony of the great San Ho (Coral) Theater, which costs no less than US$10 million, recently took place on December 10th, 2011 in the coastal city of Phan Rang – Thap Cham. The grandiose theater is an investment of the domestic Thanh Nien Media Corporation and scheduled for completion next August, with its main goal of serving the Miss Earth 2012 competition in early December the same year.
A 3D look at the to-be-built theatre
Coral Theater is shell-shaped with a curving roof resembling water waves. It covers an area of 4 hectares and can accommodate up to 2,000 audiences. Besides the central theater, the complex consists of a modern entertaining zone, a large-scale shopping mall and luxurious restaurants which serve both locals and international visitors.
According to Nguyen Cong Khe, the chairman of Thanh Nien Media Corporation, the theater can take advantage of its ideal location with 20 Cham ethnic villages located nearby, to boast the local’s unique arts and culture while showcasing interesting traditional performances to foreign tourists. As expected, Coral Theater will serve both national and international cultural and sport events like Duyen Dang Viet Nam (Charming Vietnam), Miss Vietnam, Vietnam’s Top Model, and possibly Miss Earth.
Gorgeous Cham dance soon featured on provincial theatre
Nguyen Cong Khe has not confirmed if the Miss Earth 2012 beauty contest will take place at Coral theater or not. The matter will be officially settled by the end of this year or early 2012 at the latest, upon receiving approval of the Philippines’s Carousel Productions Inc, which founded the international beauty contest, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
