Quang Nam calls for tourism investment

According to Minh, besides these four major projects, his department also granted 32 smaller projects in the fields of garments, forestry processing, rubber plantation and ore exploitation with a total capital of USD 181 million.
“Tourism investment projects have shown the most rapid progress, which is amounted to 60 percent of the province’s total investment projects over the last 5 months this year. Amongst them, Phu Ninh eco-tourism, Agribank Hoi An and Trung Phu Hai resorts have taken the biggest investment fund”, said Minh.
Minh also revealed that so far Quang Nam has welcomed 93 FDI projects with the total fund of USD 5.2 million, of which USD 4.2 million wentto 20 projects of the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
Quang Nam is becoming one of the hottest destinations of Vietnam with a wide range of world heritage sites: the ancient town of Hoi An, My Son sanctuary, and the Cham Island biosphere. Last year, the province attracted 2.8 million tourists, amongst which 1.3 million were foreigners that contributed USD 67 million of revenue for the local tourism industry.
Investors from all over the world have built 80 international standard hotels and resorts with a total of 5,000 rooms that created around 15,000 jobs for local people.
Quang Nam aims to be the centre of the tourism industry in the Central region of Vietnam by 2020, said Tran Minh Ca – Vice Chairman of the provincial people’s committee.
