Typhoon NESAT gets more flights cancelled
Vietnam Airlines has decided to cancel all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Danang to Hai Phong for September 30th.
Typhoon NESAT with windspeed of up to 119 kph has reached Vietnam's Northern coast early today in the area of Hai Phong and Halong Bay. Local government and tourism businesses have worked together to avoid all negative consequences of the typhoon, such as closing down schools, cancelling tours around the bay and relocating households in the affected area.
Seeing much risks in flights to the typhoon-wrecked area, Vietnam Airlines has delayed all flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Danang to Hai Phong until the next day when the weather is expected to get better. Another two flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku, the central highland province of Vietnam, will also be delayed on September 30th. Passengers are recommended to stay tuned with the storm watch and arrange their travel plan accordingly.
4 days ago, the Typhoon number 4 also caused 28 flights from central Vietnam to be delayed. The cancellation of flights, however frustrating, work out to the interests of the airlines' customers.
Back to NESAT, travellers are warned against travelling to Halong Bay until the end of tomorrow. The typhoon will not pass by Hanoi but will create strong wind amid heavy rainfalls in the afternoon of Friday September 30th and Saturday October 1st. Bring a raincoat or umbrella if you plan to go out - indoors activities are recommended. (Photo by NCHMF).
