Trip Summary
Day 1: Hanoi City Tour > Night Train to Lao Cai
Morning pickup at Hanoi Airport before downtown for lunch at local restaurant. Visit the Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam with typical architecture of ancient Hanoi. Take a cyclo tour around Hanoi Old Quarter. Visit busy Dong Xuan market and then proceed to water puppet performance. Check in hotel room for a short rest and shower. Dinner is own your own. Transfer to train station for a night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train

Day 2: Lao Cai > Cao Son Market > Sapa
Morning arrive in Lao Cai. Breakfast is served before proceeding to Cao Son Market (2.5 hours away). Though small, this crowded market is where Flower H’mong, Black Dao, Tay, Nung ethnic minorities come to buy and sell local products such as food and material for agriculture and fabric. People come here to meet friends, relative or sip some cups of wine until dawn comes. You will be warmly greeted by H'mong people with a temptation of corn wine and endless hospitality. Head back to Muong Khuong and enjoy local lunch. Car drive to Sapa. Free afternoon to wander through Sapa. Dinner is on your own. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa - Trekking to the villages
Local breakfast at Sapa (a home to various Vietnamese minorities) before trekking to the villages. Sneak through the market and leave the busy town behind before going downhill to idyllic Cat Cat village. Stop by a waterfall and a hydroelectric station for a while. Trek on a dirt trail through rice paddy terraces and enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river. Arrive at Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest while river-nearby lunch is served. Head to Muong Hoa valley then pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Ta Van village of Giay minority. Spend the night in local house of Giay minority. Walk along the valley to enjoy the view as well as swim in the river nearby. Dinner and homestay with local people

Day 4: More Trekking - Sapa > Night Train Back to Hanoi
Leave for Giang Ta Chai village of Red Dao minority after breakfast. Trek through bamboo forest belonging to Hoang Lien National Park. Pass by a romantic waterfall, take a rest and enjoy the surrounding. You will find a nice place to enjoy lunch. Continue toward Su Pan, a small village located by the road after luch. Back to Sapa by car. Free until time for transfer to Lao Cai train station for your night train back to Hanoi. Dinner is on your own. Overnight on train
